Time To Optimize Tax Revenue
As already proclaimed by the Government that 2016 is the Year of Law Enforcement and no longer a Guidance Year for Taxpayer. Ministry of Finance seriously to achieve the target of tax revenue by setting up of investigators to investigate the taxpayer.
The Government still hope the Draft of Tax Amnesty Law could be completed this year, at least in Parliament’s hearing of April 2016. The implementation of this tax audit will greatly depend on whether the enactment of the Draft of Tax Amnesty Law in this 2016. If the Draft of Tax Amnesty Law applied, implementation of the tax audit will not be carried out as hard as scheduled in the Year of Law Enforcement. However, if the Tax Amnesty does not implemented then the tax audit will back to the initial plan. DGT set up as many as 4,551 tax investigators to optimize the tax audit, although the number is considered not proportional to the number of taxpayers (WP) to be monitored.
The focus of the tax audit in this year is individual taxpayer non-employee other than corporate taxpayer. It is done because according to available data, the level of taxpayer’s obedience is still considered low if viewed from the holder of Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP). The revenue in 2016 is targeted from individual taxpayer non-employee, doubling from last year realization which is only IDR 9 trillion.
Up to now, estimated, total tax revenue to February 2016 amounted to IDR 124 trillion. This amount is still lower than revenue in the same period of previous years which reached IDR 145 trillion and IDR 131 trillion.
DGT hope taxpayer does not fret by the tax audit activity to be undertaken by the authorities in accordance with applicable procedures. Optimal tax audit might be expected to lead to an increase taxpayer obedience which will generate sustainable growth in tax revenue.
